We moved a lot in the 70s! Towards the end of this episode we head back to Oregon after living in Tri-Cities for a few months. Pendleton this time, not Ione or Hermiston. Mom talks about getting a waterbed again and even has an inside connection to the store. Her friends owned it at the time and were willing to cut them a deal. The image above is of the covers for two magazines she mentions in this one, the TV Guide for the week of January 7, 1977 and the January 78 Reader’s Digest. I know, I need to start adding more personal pictures and I will. I just have to find the time to sit down and scan them all.
Mat and I debate about the whether or not Contac cold medicine Mom takes in this one is still being produced, I found that it is. We also wonder about Doug Henning, the magician and Mom’s fascination with Transcendental Meditation. I also found a clip on YouTube from the very episode of CHiPs Mom mentions watching so enjoy that below if you want, it’s a great representation of a 70’s TV Show Police Chase. Enjoy!
Chase scene from the episode of CHiPs mentioned.
December 20, 1977 – January 14, 1978
We celebrate Christmas, New Year and Mat’s 2nd Birthday in this one but not much is said about any of them. Mom talks about plans for getting a waterbed and we were on the move again, heading back to Pendleton after the New Year. Mom also talks about getting into Trancendental Meditation as a way to keep calm. She even thought about learning how to teach it to others.
