We went to a company picnic and won prizes and some pocket change. We also got to eat a lot of ice cream and drink root beer. We also got to go to the fair and ride some rides and see the animals in the fair competitions. Mom took a trip to the coast and danced at a club she thought was really cool. Then she sold the car so some bills could get paid before it was too late. In the biggest news of the time, Mom finally got her hysterectomy and spent a few days in the hospital afterward. Then recovered at home for a week or two after that.

This Week’s Thoughts

So those of you who have been listening to the podcast for at least the last week or two will have noticed our little “hiccup” with Episode 52. Some concerns were brought to our attention so Mat and I dealt with them accordingly. I won’t go into anymore detail on it than that, it’s not really worth the effort or any future issues it would cause. Just know that Mat and I are doing the best we can to be as honest as possible to the spirit of Mom’s Journal. That’s all I’m going to say on that.

So in this episode Mom mentioned a club she went to called Earthquake Ethel’s. Mat discovered it’s original whereabouts in Beaverton and found out it is now a Baxter’s Auto Parts but there is a small community on Facebook that dreams about their time spent there and I thought I’d share it with you, if you’re interested. You can see their page by CLICKING HERE. Looks like these people had a lot of fun there and I’m sure Mom did too. This week’s featured image is from this Facebook page as well. My only issue with it was that Disco was the prominent musical genre of the time. I’ve never really liked Disco and can’t imagine Mom enjoying it, but I could be wrong. I’ve always been more of a rock fan and can’t wait to see the transition from late 70’s Disco to early 80’s rock. Well, that’s it for this week. Don’t forget to comment or share your stories with us. If you’re new to the podcast we’d like to extend a big “Thank You” and we hope to see you downloading all the past episodes and stay subscribed for the future episodes. Enjoy!
