I ♥ U Count: 726
January 1, 1980 – January 13, 1980
Mom brought in the new year and decade right! Things got back to normal really quick though and the struggle continued. Mat turned four and got a couple of decent presents and A LOT of snow. That snow made Mom dream of skiing too. Things got tough enough that we borrowed money from a neighbor just to get by for a few days. Oh, and the Steelers won the AFC Championship game to go to Superbowl XIV!
This Week’s Thoughts
And finally the 80s begin! A lot is going to happen over the next 10 years of Mom’s journal. Ups and downs, good times and bad. I’m really excited to get into this decade of Mom’s writing. I know we’ve already covered a lot but to me this part has always been what I think of when I think of “The Journal”. I think all of you will enjoy this part of it too. This is where we’ll see Mom turn into the strong-willed person most of us knew her as. There was a lot of hardship that caused that and I think it will be give Mat and I a better insight into what she thought about it all. I know that up to now I’ve been a bit surprised to read about how hesitant and unsure of things she was because she always seemed so confident and sure of her decisions to me. As a parent I know that sometimes you do that for your kids so they won’t freak out so I’m interested to see how much of her confidence was real or just there because she was doing the best for me and Mat. Well, there’s not a whole lot more to say other than keep listening, we’ll be back next week. Enjoy!
